rob" mum how was I born, did you have a cesarean section  "
me"yes I did"
Rob" why was it cause there was something wrong with me?"
me" no I was in labour too long and you got stuck!"
Rob" how did I get stuck? is that why I have a thyroid problem?"
me"you just did your head was too big  and no it isnt why you have a thyroid problem. Not sure why you have one could be cause you are special. Why do you want to know for?"
Rob "oh we are doing sex education at school and we were asked how we were born and i have a test to do so need to know and we watched a video on how baby's are born"
Me"oh right ok well if you need to know anything else then ask"

I don't even want to think about that discussion!! :?
I'd rather talk about guns (which I hate) than that, any day!!
i feel for you, but you know.. You handled that very well. Kudos for you on being such a good Mom.

Thanks Poe the conversations we have had lately have been a bit  but I have answered all his questions not beat about the bush but I have always done that when he was about 6 maybe younger he started asking questions about this and that I told him the truth.
He has asked me how babies get in our tummy's he asked me that when he was about 6 ish I think I told him the truth well
the best way I could for a six year old to understand.
they are not kids for long before they want to know the ins and outs lol!
We have talks about everything and anything I don't care
he needs to know.
It is worrying though he is 12 this year and I think he is started to go through that funny stage now. one of his friends at school his voice is already started to break he sounds funny lol!
but I am not sure how robs thyroid will affect things like that will ask when he sees the doc next.
All you can do is explain how they will understand and what they understand rob has been quite grown up with them sort of things.
I'm sure you will handle it well as well I dread it sometimes when he start asking things as I never know what he will come out with and it isn't funny when you're in tesco's and he starts asking questions with loads of ppl near you!   |

Today Gabe had an honor roll celebration where he was awarded many certificates for great achievements in school. While we were sitting and waiting he pointed out a girl down the row and this is the conversation from there.
Gabe: "Mom, see that girl over there?"
me: "Yes."
Gabe: "John really likes her and she likes him and he bought her this virtual turtle pet thing because she asked for it."
Me: " How sweet. So, who do you like?"
Gabe: "Oh I'm not ready for that! It's going to be a long time before I'm ready for that kind of stuff."
Me, with arm around his shoulders, "That's my boy. keep it that way."

| Honestly, I think it was the idea of having to spend his money on a girl that keeps him at bay..... But, hey.... I'm not complaining! lol. |
