flood proof house?
Quote: Norwich Union and Norfolk County Council have pioneered new protection measures against flood damage.
The property in Lowestoft, Suffolk, now has flood gates and one-way valves installed to prevent sewage build-up.
can anyone explain why Norfolk County Council are concerned with a house in Lowestoft? I thought Lowestoft was in Suffolk... |

Unfortunately, I can't offer you help on that... though I have to ask where to the flood gates lead to? It sounds like a good idea, but as we've learned over here... sometimes it can back fire.
Floods are scary things, for sure.

Thats actually my friends house she is always getting flooded and lost loads and loads of stuff
its on the old golf course and the amount of times she has been flooded out is unreal and heart breaking, not sure if it has worked or not as not seen her for a while now.
they have put her fridge up so its not on the floor,
she has specail doors as well inside.
I think if they do it to one house then everyone should get it the house is orwell housing a association house like mine but I know the ppl who i rent mine off wont do that to our houses if the y need as they are useless and don't do nothing can even put a ceiling on proper took them two months or ore to do that :x
but yeah everyone who is likely to get flooded out should get it. |

Poe, I can't imagine where the flood gates would lead to. After all, if it's flooded there won't be anywhere for the water to go... unless it takes it elsewhere?
Kerry, when you say "the old golf course" do you mean the one on Long Rd? Maybe your friend's house has been done as an experiment? They'll see how that one goes and perhaps do the other houses the same later? They might not want to do all 20 houses until they know that what they've done works.
I'm glad I live halfway up a hill :D |

My house in Cromer is in a flood plain ..
it's been flooded 3 times ...
my insurance there was really expensive ..
but give them their credit,
they did pay out all 3 times .. |
